Thank You for Watching! (TYFW!) embeds friction into unwitting participants’ unconscious interaction. A tablet quietly monitoring the room creates real-time counterfeit nudes of everyone who is not paying attention to the screen. Standing close enough to bypass the privacy screen permits you a voyeuristic view of the nudified version of others, but this active attention refuses your ability to explicitly interact by keeping you clothed. Between participant, system, and voyeur, the work exposes the unconscious friction of an extended self already living elsewhere: image, data, proxy. Where do we end when versions of us keep circulating, acting, and being used without us?
